Yep, squeezing it all into one post....

Ashlee and Ben and Isaac came to visit us one last time before they headed back to Phoenix, and it was our last official weekend of the summer, so we headed to....

the train museum in Temple.  It was interesting and pretty inexpensive (it was only $10.00 for our whole family to get in - I think the nice lady may have figured wrong.  Being the cheap kind of person I am, I didn't question it), and super family friendly.  I'm pretty sure we were the only ones there, which was a plus, because Paige and I used the boys bathroom on accident.
(Yes, there was some discussion between the two of us about why there were urinals in there.)

That brought us to Monday morning-
The first day of school!
Ahhh...
The good (having some sort of structure, and cleaning up the tornado that was my house all summer)
The bad (really hoping Paige didn't have the discussion with anyone besides me about her concern of her and the teacher being the only "peach" ones in the class.  It is very obviously more culturally diverse here, but really, Paige?)
The ugly (In a haste to get moved, I failed to check the inside of lunch boxes at the end of last school year.  Tanner's bag was a culture-fest. Ugh. That thing should have been donated to science.)

Kaylee - 7th (middle school!)
Nate - 5th
Tanner - 5th
Paige - 1st
Notice how it is dark outside?
The three younger kids have to catch the bus at
6:35 A.M.
Kaylee catches it at 7:05, which isn't much better.
So we had to take pictures inside.
I probably wouldn't have taken them outside anyway, everything here is dead because of the heat and drought.  Not a very pretty background.
(click on the pictures to get a more close-up view.  Tanner's picture is kinda funny)

They all have really great teachers, which is a huge blessing since we blindly came to this school district.  We've heard really positive things about both schools, especially the middle school.

(This is what Lila and I did for awhile after we got everyone where they were supposed to go.)
The second day of school brought us.....

Paige's 6th birthday!

Oh, happy day for her that she was able to take treats to school to pass out.
Last year I think her birthday was two or three days before school started, bummer.
That's a big deal in 1st grade, you know, having a birthday AT school.
Oh, and eating hot lunch.

(No joke, this thing is called a "happy napper")

Happy Birthday sweetheart.  Some things I want you to remember about being 6:
You love school
You love sports, especially soccer and softball
You love to leave love notes around the house for mom to find
You still love superhero movies
You sleep in everyone's bed but your own (mostly Kiki's)
You are a fantastic big sister
We love you!!!

The many faces of Lila
(this is only a couple, there are many)

This is what she does when we say "show me your mad face"

"show me your surprised face!"

So cute!
